The city of Thai paradise, its name is Pai

Language

Sawadika🙏 I’m Junya.

Recently, Japan has begun to get cold, and from the heat of summer to the cold of the beginning of winter, which is cool in autumn.

Did you know that there are some areas in Thailand where the temperature does not go above 30 degrees Celsius?

I will write about a place called Pai, which is called a city created by backpackers who know it.

1.A story I heard when I met a backpacker

Speaking of sightseeing in Thailand, there are resort areas such as Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya, Isan in northeastern Thailand, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in northern Thailand.

There is no end to it, but do you know Pai?

Can you answer immediately when asked? When I first heard it, I didn’t know it at all.

In March 2019, when I went on a trip to Thailand alone, I met Dutch and Mexican people in Chiang Mai, and I first learned about Pai there. Have they already come back from Pai and have been there?

If you answer that you don’t have one yet, you should definitely go there. It’s a paradise-like city with no buildings or noise. They said.

Then, in August of the same year, I went to Chiang Mai and Pai with my friends. After all what they were saying was true.

Half of the people in the cityscape, which looks like a fairy tale, were Westerners and backpackers.

2.Where is Pai?

Then, after all, it’s a story of where Pai is. The introduction has become longer. Simply put, Pai is a very small city near the Myanmar border in northern Thailand. It has a population of about 3,000 and the way to Pai is about 3 hours from Chiang Mai by minivan. The road to Pai is at the end of a mountain road with 762 curves, but it seems that there are many people who get motion sick because there are too many curves. Most of the accommodations were basically hostels, and many of them started at ¥ 500 per night. Where there is a curve, follow the road labeled 1095 on the map to Pai.

3.Definitely you want to go there

I didn’t see any Japanese tourists in Pai around August when I went. Although it is mentioned in the guidebook in the northern area, I felt that there were still not many people going there. So, I would like to write about what I actually experienced, such as how to get to Pai, where to go when I arrive, and how to get around in Pai. After reading this article, you will definitely want to go to Pai. The atmosphere was completely different from Bangkok, and it was a city that made me wonder if this is really Thailand. It’s been a little long, but thank you for reading to the end.
ps. The last photo is the view from the hostel where I stayed.
