2.What do Thai people say?
Well, in fact, it’s not true that Thai people still say this long name.
Locals take the first two and call them “Krung Thep Mahanakhon” or “Krung Thep”. The license plate of the car running in Thailand also has the place name written in Thai like Japan, but it says “Krung Thep Mahanakhon”.
Even more surprising is that when I ask Thai people if they can say the official name, most of them say, “It’s too long to say!”. In fact, most Thai people can’t say it because there are few people who remember it.
3.What’s the origin？
The origin of the name Bangkok is “Bang (gu) cork” in Thai pronunciation. Baan (gu) means a waterside village, cork means a tree of the family Rhus family called macork, and it used to be a small village along the Chao Phraya River where macork grows.
Speaking of Bangkok, the floating market is famous as a tourist destination. In fact, there are still Thai people living on the water, and it is a market where you can shop in a part of the area.
