How to get to Pai from chiang mai

Language

Sawadika🙏  I’m Junya.
In the previous article(#69), I gave a brief introduction to Pai, a paradise city in northern Thailand, but in this article, I will write about how to get to Pai. Directions to Pai are from Chiang Mai. When going from Chiang Mai to Pai, we basically use a minivan that can accommodate about 10 people. You can go by plane, but it’s expensive and the number of flights a day is small, so I won’t explain it this time. I think you need to make a reservation online for long-distance travel, but when you go to Pai, you can buy it on the day. After all, when I went, I bought a ticket for the day I went and a ticket for the day I arrived. It is recommended that you buy it in advance, and if you want to stay longer, you can’t change it, so buy it on the day of your trip and a few days before you leave. Use Prem Pracha when booking from the site. This site is displayed in English, so even if you don’t understand Thai, you can buy it English. You can get from Chiang Mai to Pai for 150 Baht (¥ 510) one way. It’s possible to select a seat for +10 baht when booking online, but if you are not particular about it, you don’t have to specify it. However, the curve of the mountain road is amazing, so if you get motion sick, you should reserve the seat in front of you. This time I used Chiang Mai Bus Terminal 1.Basically, the location will not change, but when I went, it was platform 13. It is better to check the platform about the site about 20 minutes before the departure time.Sometimes bus goes to earlier than the time, so it is better to go with plenty of time. When I went halfway, there was a break for about 10 minutes at a shop-like place in the mountains. Please note that this is the only place where there was a restroom break. Then I ran for about an hour and a half and finally arrived in Pai. There is also a ticket office when you arrive, so you can buy the return ticket there

Finally, to briefly summarize the main points of this time

  • There is no problem buying a bus ticket on the day
  • Only on restroom break, medicine is essential for people with motion sickness
  • Return tickets can also be purchased at the place where you arrived
By the way, I’m coming to Pai through the city. Do I need a signal? I still remember the atmosphere of an RPG game in a city where there wasn’t much traffic and motorcycles were the main thing.

So, this time it was about how to get from Chiang Mai to Pai. How do you go sightseeing in the city after arriving in Pai? You may think, but I will write this content in the next article. thank you for reading.
